I continue to hope that one day piping plovers nest in Ohio again.  The place I've been watching is Conneaut; actually, the huge beach area adjacent to the spit is more suitable for this species than the spit itself.  There is far less human disturbance and more room there for the birds.  Only foot traffic is allowed there, that makes a huge difference.  From what I know, all the sand here and at the spit is piling up naturally--an unintended consequence of the building of the breakwalls.  Thirty years ago this was just another part of L. Erie.  One question--if someone discovers a pair of piping plovers or even a potential breeder, who would be the best people/agency to inform ASAP?  Craig
