17 warbler species were at West Creek Reservation in Parma this morning, including an Orange-crowned. I actually saw the orange crown on this singing bird - for the second time this spring. At one point, male Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, and Cape May Warblers were clustered within the same binocular view - a Magee moment! Good warbler numbers for the date and location included Tennessee (10), Nashville (9), Bay-breasted (4), and Blackpoll (5).

International Migratory Bird Day highlights yesterday included Kentucky, Orange-crowned, and Canada Warblers along the Magee bird trail, and a Clay-colored Sparrow near its east entrance. A distant Yellow-headed Blackbird put in an appearance on the Ottawa auto tour, and four Wilson's Phalaropes were seen from Veler Rd early in the day (we missed these). Jen Brumfield and Tom Bartlett had a flyby Laughing Gull - a first for Tom's Big Sit!

On Friday, a molting Summer Tanager was present in the woods at Pipe Creek WA, but the marsh held little of interest - the water level is pretty high overall. Lorain Impoundment, on the other hand, looks great for shorebirds again, but few were present. A Red-headed Woodpecker in the willows here was my first at this site.

Good birding -
