8499 48 30_Alum & Hoover Reservoirs, 9-189_rob [log in to unmask], 18 Sep 2009 21:21:59 -0400455_UTF-8 I visited parts of these 2 reservoirs north of Columbus in search of unusual migrants. I focused on the areas that tend to be the best funnels for migrants: SE Alum Lake (Plumb Rd access and New Galena) and N Hoover (Wiese Rd and Area M-N). Well, after I posted my second hand report of the Kirtlands Warbler at East Harbor State Park, I went to see it for myself. It had (of course) hidden itself away in the underbrush by the time that I (and many others) arrived. However, after I left, it was seen again by many observers between 3 and 4:30ish. The bird was hanging around a large locust tree on the east side of the Meadow Trail loop. It was again not visible when I went back. Oh well. Maybe it will still be around tomorrow.
Also, it is apparently a female or immature bird, not an adult male as previously posted.
Hopefully someone who has actually seen this bird will post more details, but I wanted to let potential chasers know that it was still there this afternoon.
Good Birding,
Steve Landes
