When discussing turbines one must consider the alternative. The vast majority of our electricity
comes from coal. Which is extracted using various methods, all of which have negative ecological
impacts on both ends, extraction and use. The most destructive being Mountain Top Removal, which
not only decimates the environment but causes serious health issues for the workers and
surrounding communities. I believe it is 10% of our coal, is extracted using this method. The
immediate and long term affects of this process would be impossible to quantify. It is much easier to
quantify the bird deaths due to turbines, count the dead birds. As technology advances wind
turbines are getting safer and more efficient and the turbines of 30 years ago are nothing like the
new ones, blades spinning at slower speeds like having your bicycle in the lowest gear, dramatically
reduce bird deaths.

All I am saying.....Is give wind a chance!
