This morning at Villa Angela and Wildwood at Cleveland Lakefront SP around 11:30am the very strong cold northeast winds made finding any new birds difficult. I saw six Common Goldeneye in the lake and a few Red-breasted Mergansers, a few Tree Sparrows and a Brown Creeper. As I was leaving Mark Anderson noted there were Hooded Mergansers in the marina. I saw approx six and left.
I stopped at the property west of the Hospice of Western Reserve (E. 185th St)now owned by them I believe behind the former Jesuit Retreat Center and saw my first Northern Flicker and four Common Goldeneye.
I stopped at Euclid Park north of Lakeshore near the Lakefront Comm Center and saw one Hooded Merganser male and a few Red-breasted Mergansers.
I stopped at Sims Park and Euclid and saw one Golden-crowned Kinglet and one Turkey Vulture.
I stopped at Euclid Creek Reservation (the separate area between Chardon Rd, Euclid & Highland Rd) saw one Northern Mockingbird and two Turkey Vultures and it was much warmer here.
I returned to Wildwood Park Marina in Cleveland at 5pm and found 19 Hooded Mergansers under the docks (at least 9 males) It was still extremely cold here.
