LaDue was brimming with ducks this afternoon. I spent several hours
happily picking
through the flocks. (A scope is a real plus here, but many were
easily seen with binoculars.)
I saw two long tailed ducks, a male and a female, on the reservoir.
Bonnie Fish found a third
long tailed, a male, later this evening.
Horned grebes, well over forty, many already in breeding plumage. A
few pied bills also.
Over 80 buffleheads, 100 plus red breasted mergansers, a few common
mergansers.
Lots of scaup, and a few n. shovelers, ring necked ducks, mallards
and ruddy ducks.
(Many missed, to be ferreted out tomorrow.)
Seen from Valley Road.
Inga Schmidt
