WE had a beautiful day for Easter on South Bass Island! The Dutchman's
breeches are blooming all over. A yellow bellied sapsucker and chipping
sparrow showed up in my yard. A belted kingfisher, ruddy ducks, lesser
scaup, buffleheads, and redheads still in the harbor with great egrets and
great blue heron back in the pond. Lots of raptors moving yesterday, saw
probably 50 turkey vultures with about 5 red-tailed hawks and one Cooper's
Hawk at one time. My neighbor reported seeing two Bald Eagles pass overhead.
Paula Zeibarth reported the first purple martin of the season on April 3 at
her home. Joey Wolf reported seeing an eastern phoebe.
