After consulting Peterjohn I decided to post my pictures from this past
Sunday, May 16, of a baby Brown Thrasher out of the nest and on the ground.

To give perspective, the first picture is an adult we photographed 4-3-10
carrying nest building material in this same area. Then, Sunday, I took the
next 4 pictures of the baby begging and the adults ignoring it as they
carried more nest material into the brush. Eventually the baby hopped back
into the brush.

At least 2 weeks earlier than Peterjohn says is typical. Not hard to
imagine with the very warm April we had.

So, why did the adults ignore the baby?
