This morning we returned to Sharon Woods Metro Park (Franklin County) looking for some of the species missed Wednesday. Activity was moderate with birds in every area but often difficult to view in the leafed out trees. We concentrated on the Edward S. Thomas Trail and also checked the Oak Openings Trail. Today’s highlight was a tom Wild Turkey that we met at the intersection of the two trails. We first heard it “gobble” ahead of us on the trail. We stopped and it strutted down the trail, stopped to eye us, then continued down the trail right past us. Any closer and he might be introduced to gravy.
