Over the past several weeks multiple Virginia Rail (2) and Sora (3) have been visible and vocal in that same spot. Per the description, the chicks seem to be Virginia Rail. See page 155 of Sibley’s Guide for illustrations of both chicks (Virginia Rail with a ring on the bill).
Good find - exciting news.
