Today the Darke County Birders held their Labor Day in the County birding.  We all went where we wanted to bird and then met for lunch.  The best bird found was the American Avocet.  New members, Mitsy Johnson and her sister Tina White found the bird at Woods Road wetlands.  This private property wetland is right along a very quiet country road.  The wetland right along the road is dried up, but the pond on the north side still has water and the avocet and dunlins and peeps were in the back of this area.

great blue herons
Can. geese
mallards
wood ducks
red tailed hawks
Cooper's hawks
TV
green heron
killdeer
starlings
red headed, red bellied, downy, flickers
C. wren
warblers:  Cape May, black and white, vireos blue headed and possible Philadelthia
gold finches
robins, cardinals, catbirds
C. Chickadees
swallows  barn, chimney swifts
bluejays and crows
