Conducted the 13th September monthly census on Kelleys Island today.
Beautiful day with "tons" of birds which were moving way too fast and
disappearing into the foliage.  Assistaed by Paula Bartlett and June
Campbell.  We observed 73 species along the census route which is the
average for the past 13 years in September and 24662 individuals is one of
the highest counts of any month's census.  Highlights included the first
Red-breasted Mergansers and Dark-eyed Juncoes for the September census.
22029 Double-crested Cormorants was a record as was 18 Red-breasted
Nuthatches.  Surprisingly we had no White-breasted Nuthatches or swallows.
16 species of warblers were observed as well as 112 individual warblers
unidentified.
