Greetings -

This morning, 5:30 a.m. - 6:20 a.m., I was able to stand outside my friend's studio off of East 55th (northern end) and hear a stunning number of passerines passing over in the dark morning skies. Numerous species of warblers and thrushes, sometimes five to six different birds passing over at once, were streaming by. Their high "peeps" and "schrits" and "zrrits', flight calls, are very tricky to distinguish, but this morning I could pick out at least a half dozen Blackpoll Warblers, a dozen Swainson's Thrushes, several Magnolia Warblers, and American Redstarts, amongst another 60+ calls heard. Not able to spend time witnessing the event as I'm getting ready to head out birding. Winds were lightly out of the East last night, so while N winds didn't push these birds in, they clearly found the weather calm enough to make the flight over the Lake. Get out and check your local lakefront parks....

Best of birding -
Jen
