Approx. 200 sandhill cranes were seen flying over the Englewood North
Metropark late Sunday afternoon. As of 5:30 p.m., there were 60 sandhills
ready to spend the night at Englewood Main Metropark. As you look out over the
lake from the first large parking area, the sandhills were at the far
southeast end of the lake. There's also the possibility that some of the 200
may have landed at the nesting pond at the North Park on Old Springfield Rd.
Sunrise tomorrow is at 7:44 a.m. At the Main Metropark, due to their
location, they would probably not take off until around 9 a.m. Usually they
do not take flight until the sun is on them. This information is given with
NO guarantees !!!
