The previously reported Red-throated Loon and Long-tailed Duck continued at Avon
Lake, this AM.  Perhaps others who've seen the bird can comment, but the
Red-throat did not look entirely healthy - the bird had its head tucked the
entire time I was present, the first time I've ever seen a loon "sleeping" for
this length of time.  The Long-tailed Duck was sitting on the ice just out of
view beyond the west breakwall, but flew out and landed quite near the pier for
a short time.  All three mergansers were present, as well as two Ring-necked
Ducks, but scant gulls.

Emil and I birded at Mohican SP/SF yesterday morning.  Highlights: Black
Vulture, Rough-legged Hawk, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Yellow-rumped Warbler (4),
Purple Finch (2), and Pine Siskin (2).  We encountered at least 400 robins
throughout the morning; robins and Canada Geese seem to be at all all-time
winter highs this year.  Joining a flock of Cedar Waxwings near the Lodge was a
bird with orange-tipped tail.

Emil and I pulled off the "procrastinator's" January 100, last weekend.  On Sat.
morning I had 83 total.  A whirlwind birding trip around northern Ohio ensued
and by midday Sun. - #101!  A few photos of these birds are here:

Good birding -
