On the drive to work this morning I spotted sunlight glinting off the
pale breast of a red tail hawk, high in a tree off of 422 at the
Bainbridge/Solon border. A few feet above it was a second red tail. A
quarter mile down the highway I spotted a second pair. Then, about 1
mile further along I spotted a third pair. In each case, the birds in
the pair were less than about 10ft apart and one bird was looking E/SE
and the other W/SW. Traffic got dicey after that so I thought it best to
stop looking for hawks.
At the feeders here in Bainbridge we still have an abundance of
cardinals, goldfinches, titmice, chickadees, wb nuthatches, and song
sparrows. Had a flock of blackbirds show up yesterday but they spooked
before I could check for Brewer's or rustys. At least one male
red-winged is persisting and still singing. Still no redpolls or siskins
to speak of. If anyone can spare a few to send our way... :)
