Yesterday in the Morning Journal, a Columbiana County newspaper; this entertaining story was listed in the police activity column: "The sheriff's department reported Sunday that about 30 turkey buzzards were found at about 9:30 a.m. in a Perry Township yard, unable to fly due to iced-up wings. According to dispatchers, one of the birds actually pecked at the door of a house in the 1100 block of Liberty Street, causing the resident to go out, where she saw the grounded birds. The county game warden and a bird rehabilitator went to the scene, with about a dozen birds taken into the rehabilitator van to thaw." Amusingly, the following item was this: "A resident of Glasgow Road, Lisbon, reported Sunday he had received a threatening call from his wife's stepsister who lives in Arizona. He wanted the report on file." Bird sightings in a police report. Birding can be exciting!
