So far three other people have noted chickadees with all-white tails,
two from NE Ohio and one from SE Ohio. I wonder how common this abnormal
plumage is and its cause? I've heard of red-tailed hawks with white
tails so it occurs to me that this condition may be tied in to feather
development generally in birds. This was the first time I've seen it and
it was quite striking.
