The Franklin County year list stands at 169, and includes 19 warbler
spp. I got an interesting report yesterday from the quarry nesting site
visible from the top of the Shrum Mound. This 2000-year-old relic of the
Adena culture, a public property of the Ohio Historical Society,
overlooks at least 85 nests; those which could be seen well enough
included 34 cormorant nests, ten great egret nests, and six great blue
heron nests. The cormorant and egret nests are among the very few to be
found inland in Ohio.
