I had the privilege of being in eastern IN this evening and some spare
time brought me to the Ohio side for a little bit of atlasing (you
just can't keep me away, Ohio!). I was birding a forested area (far
NW Darke County) bisected by the stateline road when I decided to head
to the edge of the wooded area because I heard a few warblers singing
from that direction. Just as I was getting to the edge, I noticed a
raptor flying towards me from the Ohio side. An adult MIKI flew right
over me and promptly crossed into Indiana.

The habitat in this area (also to the north in Mercer County) is very
interesting (just south of Fort Recovery). Last year I had territorial
Cerulean and Yellow-throated Warbler, Northern Parula, Ovenbird and
others in these large forested areas otherwise surrounded by ag.

The coordinates for the kite location is:
40.32014 -84.80350

Good birding!
