Highlights -
From a slow walk on the loop trail around the base of the Happy Days
ledges: Carolina, house, and WINTER wrens; red-eyed, yellow-throated and
BLUE-HEADED vireos; 7 hooded warblers, including a youngster with an adult; two
black-throated green warblers; and a singing DARK-EYED JUNCO.
The Colosseum grasslands had at least four Henslow's sparrows; at least 30
bobolinks, including youngsters; and at least 10 eastern meadowlarks, again with
some youngsters. Oddly, we didn't hear any savannah or grasshopper sparrows.
Maybe the bobolinks were bubbling too loud...
