Blendon Woods is located in the northeast corner of Columbus off of I
270 & Rte 161. Take the Little Turtle Way exit. Below is some of the
birds seen at Blendon Woods the last couple of days.
 
         Thoreau Lake
                          Great Blue Heron
                          Warblers
                                    Yellow
                                    C Yellowthroat
                          Mallard-male, female with 8 ducklings
                          Wood Duck-female with 4 ducklings
                          E Phoebe-2
                          E Kingbird
                          Green Heron
                          Red-tailed Hawk-adult
                          Baltimore Oriole
                          Spotted Sandpiper
                          Barn Swallow
 
       Lake Trail
                         Indigo Bunting-2
                         Acadian flycatcher
                         E Towhee
                         Great Crested Flycatcher
                         E Buebird-female
                         Warblers
                                   Yellow
                                   C Yellowthroat
                         Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
 
    Nature Center Parking Lot
                         Summer Tanager
                         E Wood Peewee
                         Chimney Swift
                         Cooper's Hawk
 
   Nature Center Bird Viewing Area
                         Turkeys-female,4 males
                         Indigo Bunting
                         Hairy Woodpecker
                         Ruby-throated Hummingbird
                         Carolina Wren
 
  Brookside Trail
                         Warblers
                                    Kentucky
                                    Hooded
                                    Ovenbird
                                    Louisianna Waterthrush
                        Red-eyed Vireo
                        Pileated Woodpecker
                        Scarlet Tanager
                        Wood Thrush
                        
Barred Owl-Ripple Rock Trail, Hickory Ridge Trail, & the beginning of
Sugarbush Trail
 
Wild Turkeys- They can be seen at the various feeders throughout Blendon
Woods. Bird Feeders are located at the Nature Center, East Blind at
Thoreau Lake, Ranger Station, & the Picnic areas. Soon there will be
young!!
 
Black-billed Cuckoo- This bird can be seen in the Brookside/Overlook
Trail area
 
Red-shouldered Hawk- This bird is regularly seen on the far end of the
loop on Sugarbush Trail
