Greetings all -
This morning, four to five male BOBOLINKS and upwards of 8 Savannah Sparrows, plus an Eastern Meadowlark and five Northern Mockingbirds were observed at Burke Lakefront Airport. All sightings made by slowly and carefully driving along North Marginal Road, which directly and closely parallels the airport. The Bobolinks were all seen in the extreme eastern corner of the airport, where a fairly large section of un-mowed grass has created a decent sized grassland. Typically the entire airport is mowed regularly. It seems that this year, the far eastern corner has been allowed to grow "wild." The Savannahs were heard and seen perched atop various airport lights and signs, low to the ground. Pretty neat to have a "grassland," albeit a small one, directly on the CLE lakefront.

best of birding - JB
