Hi all,

It has never felt better than to come in 2nd (probably) this year on a CBC.

Yes! Wooster counters reached the century mark for the 1st time this year,
following a fantastic 108 species seen by Toledo birders - my hat off to
them.

Our 62nd consecutive count was held on Dec. 24th that turned out to be a
very nice early Christmas present.

The best bird of the day was a White-eyed Vireo - found and identified by a
group of Amish teenagers and later photographed by Cheryl Harner and Ryan
Steiner. It was found in the
Secrest Arboretum  (OARDC) at the south end of Wooster.

This species was followed closely, if not as an equally good find Lesser
Yellows- found and voluminously documented by Gary Cowell on the Wilderness
Road south of the
Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area.

To my knowledge both of these birds have not been relocated since  their
initial discovery.

As a group, we had 20 species of waterfowl, including all 3 species of
swans.  We also had a full complement of woodpeckers and wrens.

In the most "difficult to miss, but missed" category  were the hermit
thrush and meadowlark.
