I birded Evans L. and Pine L. in eastern Mahoning Co. yesterday 3/10.  On the way there, I checked on the Lowellville great horned owl - she was still on the nest.  Evans L. had: 6 Am. wigeon, 8 canvasbacks, 7 ring-necked ducks, 100 lesser scaup, 8 buffleheads, 3 hooded mergansers, 75 red-breasted mergansers, ruddy duck, 4 horned grebes, 2 Am. coots, 600 ring-billed gulls, 30 herring gulls, and e. bluebird.  At Pine L. were: trumpeter swan, mute swan, 2 gadwall, Am. wigeon, hooded mergansers, 100 red-breasted mergansers, 5 ruddy ducks, 40 Am. coots, 750 ring-billed gulls, 20 herring gulls, an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, and belted kingfisher.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
