We spent the morning hiking at Slate Run Metro Park, and it looks like
all the Canada geese goslings have hatched!  Parents were herding
youngsters in every pond as we passed.  Other sights of interest
there: a pair of yellowlegs flew overhead; we startled a pair of wood
ducks and a pair of blue-winged teal ducks at the casting pond near
the big picnic area; and, much to my pleasant surprise, we saw the
sandhill cranes.  I was actually surprised to see two adults foraging
for food by themselves -- I'd've thought that one would be on a nest,
or that they might even have a colt hatched already.
