I took an hour yesterday and today to visit two good woodlot migrant traps, Gahanna Woods yesterday and Jefferson Township Park Woods today, and found them bustling with migrants. Both are mature mixed woods with lush understory and vernal pools. Both had among the first flycatchers, tanagers, buntings, and grosbeaks of the season for me, as well as a good diversity of warblers. Highlights included:

Flycatchers - Great Cresteds in GW yesterday, E.Wood Pewees and Acadians in JTPW today

Vireos - Blue-headed, Yellow-throated, and 2-4 Red-eyed were at each woods, and JTPW also had a singing Warbling

Kinglets,Gnatcatchers - 1-2 Ruby-crowns at each woods, along with 5-8 Gnatcatchers

Thrushes - only Wood Thrushes, but 3-4 at each woods

Mimids - plenty of Gray Catbirds at each woods, but GW also had a singing Brown Thrasher

Warblers - GW had 15: Yellow, Nashville (5), Tennessee (2), Magnolia (2), Chesnut-sided (3), Black-thr.Blue, Black-thr.Green (5), Blackburnian (6), Yellow-rumped (15), Black&White (2), AmRestart, Ovenbird(2), N.Waterthrush, Hooded (2), Com.Yellowthroat (3)
JTPW had 13: Yellow, Nashville (4), Tennessee, Golden-winged, Magnolia, Chesnut-sided (5), Black-thr.Green (3), Blackburnian (2), Yellow-rumped (10), Palm, Black&White, AmRedstart, Ovenbird

Buntings,Grosbeaks - both had Rose-br.grosbeaks, but JTPW had 4. Only JTPW had Indigo Buntings (2-3)

Tanagers - both had 1-2 Scarlets. Neither had Summer tanagers.

Sparrows - both had the expected Chipping-Field-Song, but they also still ahd small flocks of White-throateds

Orioles - both had Baltimore Orioles, but not Orchards
