The hay loft has again produced 3 clutches of Dark-eyed Junco's (same last
year). Tonight I went up for hay and found the parent on the nest. As I
approached it flew to the rafters and I observed at least one feathered
chick. There were 3 eggs in there last weekend, all small and blue.
Earlier this month the Barn Swallow's successfully launched 4 babies into
the air around the farm! They would be gone foraging all day and return at
dusk to roost on the rafter. One evening no one came home!
Today my wife reported seeing two Barn Swallow's flying into the barn again.
Could they be ready to have a second batch? Time will tell.
