Today April 20th is my 66th birthday so I set out at 9:30am to check on as
many eagle and osprey nests as I could. Ten hours and over 300 miles later
I am happy to report the following.
4 osprey nests visited with 8 osprey
19 eagle nests visited with 19 adult and 1 juv. bald eagles
3 American Kestrel
5 Red tail hawks (this is a very low count for the distance I traveled)
7 turkeys 2 toms strutting their stuff for 11 femals who were not impressed
5 great egrets
I do not usually count water or shore birds but I saw a flock of
300+ greater golden plover at Killdeer plains. They were on the ground on
the south side of CR68 across from the western most parking area at pond
27. I did get lots of photos but I do not know how to post them. I got
great looks and they matched the pictures in my field guide exactly. The
male birds were very striking.
