I checked out Evans L. and Pine L. in eastern Mahoning Co. today.  Pine L. was completely frozen.  During the drive around the lake I did manage to see 8 wild turkeys and 2 red-shouldered hawks.  Evans L. had 2 open water holes.  The smaller one was jammed w/Canada geese and ring-billed gulls, the larger and closer one  had more ring-billed gulls, herring gull, and Am. crows.  This leaves the Mahoning R. as the only reliable open water for ducks around my neck of the woods.  In my Poland Twp. back yard I had 15 wild turkeys on 12/17, and a flock of about 20 common grackles on 12/15.  Craig Holt
