We took a quick trip down to the Hocking Hills looking for wildlfowers, butterflies, & birds.  Eschewing the mobs at OldMan'sCave, we opted for the mob at Conkle's Hollow, then went over to nearby Spruce Hollow (Webster Rd).  The day was hazy & mild, and the few birds we found were usually singing.  Notable birds included:

Turkey Vultures - small #s were everywhere, but whitewash at several cliffs at Conkle's indicated nesting there
Pileated Woodpeckers - a pair were calling in Spruce Hollow
Brown Creeper - 1 was singing in Conkle's Hollow.  I don't know if they nest here.
Blue-headed Vireos - 2 were singing along the drier rim forest of Conkle's Hollow
Kinglets - 2 Ruby-crowns were at each Hollow; the only Golden-cr. was one at Conkles
Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers - not as common as in Columbus, with only a few at each hollow
Hermit Thrushes - 2 were at Conkle's Hollow, but neither were singing (alas)
Parula Warbler - at least 3 were singing along Spruce Hollow
Black-throated Green Warblers - 5 were singing on territories in the hemlocks along Conkle's Hollow
Yellow-rumped Warblers - a few were at each hollow
Yellow-throated Warbler - 1 was singing along Spruce Hollow
Black&White Warbler - 1 was singing in the slope forest at Conkle's Hollow
La.Waterthrush - a pair were calling at Conkle's, while a single was seen along Spruce Hollow
