The juvenile Bald Eagle with the "C2 Wing Tag" that I photographed and reported on the morning of Friday July 11th, on "The Conneaut Sandspit" in Ashtabula County, has been determined. The bird identified as "C2" was released on June 20, 2012 by The American Eagle Foundation at their Douglas Lake hack site, at Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. At the time of release the juvenile was 12.7 weeks old. Thus being hatched the last week of March 2012, the theme park celebrity visitor from Dollywood is now 2.3 years old. The only other reports of this eagle being seen were on August 7th and 15th, 2012 at nearby to the south, Pymatuming Reservoir on the Pennsylvania state line. Where has this bird's travels taken it to? The color pattern on the wing tags were: orange digits (two 2") on white oval, mounted on green background. This combination is visible from both above and below the left wings. Photographs can be provided upon request. This left wing tag color protocol has been approved since 1989 by the US Banding Laboratory for Bald Eagles hacked and released in Tennessee. Many thanks to Carole Babyak and Annette Piechowski for their efforts and interest in tracking down the origin of the eagle. Information was provided by Tom Wasilewski, Al Cecere, and Bob Hatcher.
