Dick Hoopes spotted two Avocets around 6:30pm today on a gravel bar near the
boat launch at LaDue. Words spread rapidly and several birders and
onlookers were able to get good views through spotting scopes. Here are
some poor quality digiscoped images from around 8pm
https://www.flickr.com/photos/85567104@N05/. Hopefully someone else has
better pictures and will post them later.

Unfortunately both birds took flight eastward about 9pm and went very high
as they flew away.

Water levels are dropping at LaDue and there are some shorebirds and terns
showing up on the mud flats and gravel bars from the boathouse north to the
dam (along Valley Road).
