Bob Krajeski and Buster Bannish, part of "The Conneaut Birding Gang", were already at 'The Sandspit" when we arrived at 8AM this morning, Thursday. The numerous Bald Eagles were everywhere as usual. Birds of interest were 28+ Least Sandpipers, 3 Caspian Terns, and a single Bonaparte's Gull. The highlight of the visit was a single Stilt Sandpiper in perfect breeding plumage, which arrived about 9AM, giving us great photo opportunity views for about forty-five minutes. Hundreds of juvenile Bank Swallows swarmed on and over the sandspit. Mixed in with them were Purple Martins along with Tree, Cliff, and Barn Swallows. Quite a spectacle. Upon our departure at 11AM, non birders were beginning to arrive.

Bob and Denise Lane / Mahoning County
