Dan Gesualdo and I found an apparent Black-headed x Ring-billed Gull at Huron harbor yesterday. The bird was resting on the gravel piles on the east side of the river with 400+ Ring-billed Gulls. Bird is smaller overall in build then Ring-billed, has shorter dusky brown-red legs, a smaller, slighter dusky yellow/brown bill with a slight dark ring, and a faint but dark half "hood" -- a dark area behind the eye and cap.
