NOVEMBER 07, 2015 - Cuyahoga Valley Monthly Towpath Trail Census.HIKE: Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Valley (this day's hike included a stop at the old Stanford House to showJohn and a side trip along the Cuyahoga River to count the number of nests at the "Wetmore Heronry" now that theleaves are all off.) TIME: 6:45am-3:55pm TEMP.: 44-57-52 COND.: Cool & cloudy early giving way to pleasant andmostly sunny; winds light and variable changing to W/SW around 1:40pm at 5-7mph.FT.MI.: 14.0 OBS.: John Henry & Douglas W. Vogus.I. MAMMALS: 9 SPECIES.

   - Eastern Chipmunk - 8
   - Eastern Gray Squirrel - 5 (1 black morph)
   - Eastern Fox Squirrel - 5
   - Red Squirrel - 47 (New Census High - previous was 43 in 03/2014)
   - Meadow Vole - 1 (Tied Census High - in 03/2012)
   - Muskrat - 1
   - White-tailed Deer - 12 (buck: 10-pt., three 8-pt., two spike, 6 does)
