Late this evening Ben Morrison located a possible Kelp Gull at Springfield Lake in Summit County. ID is still tentative but is looking quite hopeful. Photos are on Facebook and Birding Ohio & North America Gulls. The gull appeared to be preparing to spend the night (with many other Herrings & Ring-billeds) on the roof of the Springfield Lake Roller Rink which is at the very west end of Springfield Lake Drive on the SE shore of Springfield Lake. I can imagine these birds leaving this roof very early in the morning, even before sun-up so a very early stakeout is recommended. If the birds are not there, gulls often congregate either on the south end of the lake by the park off of Lakeside Drive or along the lake's north side along Canfield Road.Kent Miller
