The Springfield Lake gull was on the lake with many hundreds of other gulls this morning including a Lesser Black-backed Gull. The bird lifted off and flew south with many other gulls roughly around 7:45AM. It appears to be setting up a pattern for being a first light and late afternoon bird at the lake although we don't know how early in the day it was there yesterday, perhaps 3:00ish or sooner. Some gulls reportedly spend the day in the Marcs plaza on Rt 91 just east of the lake and other parking lots in the area if you're looking to kill some time waiting for more of the gulls to return in the afternoon.Folks who've seen Kelp Gull before seemed to be feeling very good about the ID of this bird this morning but hopefully the bird will cooperative closely with some good cameras this afternoon. See earlier post for viewing areas on the north and south ends of the lake in addition to the Roller Rink spot.Kent Miller
