Hi all - some highlights from a big day in Lorain and Cuyahoga County yesterday (Jan 1): 

Harlequin Duck male with goldeneye west of Lakewood Park in Lakewood. Need a scope and lots of thorough scanning and patience. Distant bird. Also search from Rocky River Park. 

White-winged Scoter (6) off Lakewood Park. 

Surf Scoter (4) off Lakewood Park plus (10) off Edgewater Park. 

Purple Sandpiper on the outer breakwall off of Wendy Park. Search with scope from the old coast guard station. A secondary excellent site to scan from is the end of the East 9th street pier in downtown Cleveland. 

Iceland Gull first-cycle at Avon Lake power plant. 

Long-tailed Duck at Wildwood marina in Cuyahoga. 

Snow Bunting (2) Lorain Harbor pier. 

Northern Saw-whet Owl (December 31st) at Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. Scan the brambles and thickets right around the gate.
