I am not currently subscribed to Ohio-Birds, but received the report
(below) from a very competent birder. I suspect that more than a few
birders would want to try to chase...

Allen, around 9:10 am this Friday morning Kathy and I saw a Brown Pelican
fly in and land a post near water's edge. The bird was about 50 yds away
from us. It stayed there for a minute and flew NW up the shore about 100
yds and landed on another post. Then it flew NW up the beach. We are
staying at a house on Lake Erie,11985 Dyke Road, Curtice, OH. The bird is
not here though. ID was easy because it was so close and I have seen many
Brown and American Whites in my travels. Quite a surprise!
