I stopped at a series of birding areas along the Scioto River near downtown Columbus, starting at Scioto Audubon MetroPark, and working west to Confluence Park, Long St.Dam, Grandview, Shrum Mound, and Griggs Dam. There were lots of resident breeders, though nothing terribly out-of-the-ordinary. Notables included:

Cormorants - they're officially abundant now, with birds at every stop, and commuter flying all along the river. The colony at Shrum Mound had 80+ birds.

Great Egrets - also widespread, with birds flying over most spots along the river. The Shrum Mound colony had 30 individuals.

Osprey - the Scioto Audubon birds were feeding a large chick at their parking lot nest

Gulls - couldn't find the Herring at Shrum Mound, but did have Ring-billed at several spots (Scioto Audubon, Confluence, Griggs Dam)

E.Kingbirds - usually rare in the urban area, several were at both Scioto Audubon and Griggs Reservoir

Swallows - small flocks of Tree, Rough-winged, and Cliffs were all along the river, and a few banks were around their favored haunts around Griggs Dam

Warblers - scarce, but did have Yellow-throated at several places (Scioto Audubon, Long St.Dam, Griggs), and Prothonotaries (2 @ SCioto Audubon), Parula (Griggs), Yellows (may spots), and Common Yellowthroats (SCioto Audubon)

Orioles - Baltimores were abundant, particularly at Scioto Audubon (6+) and Griggs (8+). Orchards were no slouches either, with 3 at Scioto Audubon and another at Griggs.
