Here is a picture of horned owlets that I took a week or so ago. Cute little buggers.

The mother was in a pine tree with eyes closed sleeping but the owlets were wide awake. Maybe it was all of the "click-gzzz" sounds of the 6-7 people standing there taking picture after picture that kept them awake. But then, it is always hard to get the kids to sleep when you want them to.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] kestrel in Greenlawn
Hi all
Question for central Ohioans: could I have seen an American Kestrel at
Greenlawn today? Saw the orange color like the breast of a robin, panels of
color on the head. It wasn'ta hawk. And I hadn't seen this bird before, so
I though maybe it was a peregrine falcon. But when I started looking at
pictures, I needed to find a bird with more orange. Hence the kestrel
guess. It was in the top of a tree on Greenlawn, right outside the
cemetery. (I was checking on the baby owls, who are growing so quickly! and
so camouflaged against the tree.)
