Hello all,
There was a nice assortment of birds at the old field beach at Indian Lake tonight. The Best finds were single juvenile laughing and Franklin's gulls side by side. I forgot my camera and went home and came back to find the Franky still there, but the laughing was not refound. I got some great picks of the franky if anyone wants one I can email them. This marks the fifth consecutive year I have found either laughing or Franklin's there, though the first I've seen them together. There was also a nice assortment of shorebirds(which are listed below) and two Caspian terns, an osprey, and a ring-billed gull with turquoise wing taps on each wing. There were no Bonapartes gulls present, so I wouldn't be betting on a Sabine's being around. I'll check again tomorrow after school and repost if there are any birds of interest.
Shorebirds:
6 Sanderlings
2 Least Sandpipers
2 Pectoral Sandpipers
2 Semipalmated plovers(one did not have a complete breast band....)
1 Greater Yellowlegs
~30 killdeer
1 Baird's sandpiper
1 American Golden Plover
1 Lesser Yellowlegs (flyover)
Well that about covers it.
Cheers,
Troy Shively
