This morning Ben Warner and I birded the former grain bin wetlands off
Darby Creek Dr (see previous posts for directions or see the map
embedded in the eBird checklist link below). As others have noted,
this spot currently offers really excellent shorebirding, and the
soon-to-be mowed path Bill Whan mentioned will make it even more
convenient. Today we saw 734 shorebirds representing 17 species.
With Pipe Creek closing soon I'd highly recommend a visit to this neat
spot that allows for fairly close study of these shorebirds.
Less common species today included:
1 Buff-breasted
1 Baird's
1 White-rumped
1 Black-bellied Plover
1 American Golden-plover
2 Stilt Sandpipers
1 Short-billed Dowitcher
3 Red-necked Phalaropes
