This morning on a walk with my wife and 2 kids at the Darby Bend Lakes of
Prairie Oaks Metro Park, I had the pleasure of observing a good assortment
of birds:
Highlights:
3 flyover Bonaparte's Gulls
~50 Lapland Longspurs
1 Common Loon
Also:
10 Ruddy Ducks
6 Lesser Scaup
~30 Coots
5 Horned Grebes
1 Red-tailed Hawk on its nest
1 soaring Cooper's Hawk
3 Common Flickers
2 Red-bellied Woodpeckers
~20 Tree Swallows
pair of Belted Kingfishers
~10 Horned Larks
plus other common birds
I also saw what I'm assuming is a partial albino Canada Goose (normal size
and coloration except head and neck were mostly white and speckled with
black). Very strange!
