Some friends and I birded at Buck Creek State Park (Delorme 66A3) Sunday
morning. There were more than a hundred Bonaparte's Gulls. We also saw a
couple Common Loons, about 6 Hooded Mergansers and about 20 Gadwalls.
The mudflats at the north end of the lake are still attracting some
shorebirds. We saw about 500 Killdeer, 3 Dunlins, 2 Least Sandpipers,
and a snipe. Off Grant Road there is a sign for the horsemen's area. We
parked there and walked down the trail to an old boat ramp. We spotted 3
Surf Scoters on the lake with a group of Gadwall.
