I looked for it in the evening but didn't find it. This morning Larry Jeanblanc and I returned to the area and found it this time. We just got the briefest of glimpses of the bird but we listened to it sing for several minutes. We found it at about 8:45 this morning. The bird is along the bike trail less than 100 yards east of the corner of Linden Avenue and East Washington Street in Springfield. Ben Warner and I birded Pickerington Ponds, Chatterton Wetlands, and
Scioto Audubon Metro Park this morning.
Pickerington Ponds has excellent shorebird habitat. Highlights were
12 Least Sandpiper, a Short-billed Dowitcher, and a Sedge Wren.
Chatterton Wetlands also has excellent shorebird habitat. Highlights
included 15 Least Sandpiper, a Ring-necked Pheasant, and a
Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
Scioto Audubon Metro Park has a tiny bit of habitat but if the water
level drops it should get better. 1 Solitary Sandpiper was present.
