Just to add my 2 cents' worth:
I first visited the Bluffton duck on November 11. It was fairly skittish
at that time, and kept its distance. When I returned on November 21, it and
the small motley group of Mallards and Mallard hybrids with which it was
associating rushed out of the water and onto the bank as soon as they saw me
walking from the parking lot toward the lake. In fact, I had to try to shoo
the Whistling-Duck away from me in order to photograph it--it was much too
close for my lens. When I tried to walk away from it to get more distance
between us, the cute little bugger followed me! Obviously it had become
accustomed to people feeding it during those 10 days.
