I stopped at East 72nd Street around noon for about a half hour. There were
some gulls up close, but were about 100 or so yards east of the water
outlet. I was able to find an adult Thayer's and a first cycle glaucous
gull on the ice near the open water. there was also a third cycle Nelson's
gull (glaucous x herring). Unfortunately a peregrine flew in and began
chasing birds and all the gulls moved out quite a bit further on the ice. I
didn't have time to see if they were going to come back.
