Clara Cooper-Mullin and I scoped the shorebirds in McKinley Quarry from
Shrum Mound in Columbus this afternoon. The mudflats remain extensive in
the quarry, and today, we found 6 species of shorebirds. The most unusual
was a Baird's Sandpiper associating with a flock of Least Sandpipers. The
shorebirds are all very distant at this location, but hopefully it will
continue to host good numbers of shorebirds through the fall. For a
complete checklist and map of the area, see the eBird checklist:

Good birding,
Alex Champagne
